The Environment Court has delivered its final decision, granting our request to develop the Tavern site, and rejecting the appeals lodged. The scheme approved is similar to that proposed back in 2009, with the exception being the local landmark building and chimney known as the Boiler House, immediately adjacent to the site entry from Church Street, which is to be removed as a result of objections made by local residents.
 
The Open Homes held have resulted in a number of positive enquiries from genuinely interested parties. Coinciding with this, the level of enquiry through the project’s website has increased markedly, with interest on a world wide basis.
 
This confirms not only the appeal of what the project has to offer, but also the variety of floor plans available has created interest across a wide range of potential purchasers, and supports the underlying decisions made at the design concept stage. Our focus on the likely purchaser profile and their preferred amenities, is being borne out in enquiry to date.
 
The generously sized residences with spacious air conditioned living areas, the availability of their own lifts, and the self contained lock-up and leave features of the residences are finding favour with parties.
 
Due to the high level of interest we have completed a check construction estimate which has confirmed our budgeting will support the project costs. As part of this exercise, we have also re-visited selection of the appliances, fixtures and fittings to be provided in the residences (the updated schedule of which is part of the project website). We met with a number of suppliers and viewed the latest models available in kitchen and laundry appliances. This has resulted in changes in the appliance preference to being either Asko or Miele.
